John Chip Degaard, Chip Dee Academy of Music Owner, Instructor, Educator


You might say, he is a Chip off the old block. John Chip Degaard is father was a classical pianist, organist, professor of music, composer and music therapist. Chip is an accomplished R&B, Blues, Jazz, Rock Piano player, vocalist, composer, drummer, an educator and specialize in working with the special needs population. Not quite the same, but close enough to be a "Chip" for sure.



Carmine Scordo, Chip Dee Academy of Music Instructor


Carmine Scordo began playing the guitar as a Sophomore at Hasbrouck Heights High School. A mainstay of the Hasbrouck Heights community for most of his life , Carmine enjoys the educational vibe at the Chip Dee Academy of Music, "No matter how long I've been playing, I always learn something new at the Academy."



John Tomaszewski, Chip Dee Academy of Music Instructor


John Tomaszewski has been playing the guitar for well over 15 years and isn’t stopping anytime soon. A seasoned instructor at Chip Dee’s Academy of Music for many years and when he’s not teaching you can find him at William Paterson University studying Sound Engineering Arts.



Tammy Takaishi, Chip Dee Academy of Music Instructor


Tammy Takaishi is the newest faculty arrival to the Chip Dee Academy of Music. Tammy has over 10 years of experience teaching from private lessons to public school classrooms. She has taught private and group lessons in violin, piano, cello, and music theory/composition, to students as young as age 3, through adult. Prior to moving to New Jersey, Tammy was the orchestral assistant for the Missouri Youth Orchestra, and taught violin and cello with the Missouri String Project. Ms. Takaishi holds a Masters in Music Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and is currently pursuing a Masters in Music Therapy at Montclair State.



Chris Winn, Chip Dee Academy of Music Instructor


Chris Winn is Chip Dee Academy of Music’s resident horn specialist. When he’s not teaching Chris is the featured trombonist in his band Blue Food. Chris and Blue Food played their first show at Greenwich Village’s famous Bitter End in July of 2009, and has been flattening audiences in the New York City area ever since with their dynamic stage presence and unique sound, which is equal parts Led Zeppelin and Stevie Wonder.
