Chris Winn, Chip Dee Academy of Music Instructor

thumb3Chris Winn is Chip Dee Academy of Music’s resident horn specialist. When he’s not teaching Chris is the featured trombonist in his band Blue Food. Chris and Blue Food played their first show at Greenwich Village’s famous Bitter End in July of 2009, and has been flattening audiences in the New York City area ever since with their dynamic stage presence and unique sound, which is equal parts Led Zeppelin and Stevie Wonder.

Why Teach?
At Chip Dee Academy of Music teaching like the other instructors is what fuels Chris’s drive, “I enjoy working with new musicians and introducing them to new opportunities.”

Current Musical Projects?
“My funk band Blue Food. Blue Food is funk for the 21st century. A 7-piece progressive funk rock act, creating eclectic, powerful music fusing elements of funk, rock, metal, jazz, and everything in between.”
Blue Food officially released their first album, “Engines”, in August of 2012,. “Engines” weaves seamlessly between the hard-hitting guitar riffage on songs like “Boogiemen,” the funky grooves on tracks like “Joker Face,” and the anthemic, catchy chorus of the album’s centerpiece, “Engine of the World.”

Musical Goal?

“To become the best musician and educator I can.”

Biggest Musical Inspiration?

“My college professor, Dr. Delfause.”

Best Place To Perform In World?
Mexicali Live in Teaneck NJ. The venue is huge and the atmosphere there is wonderful.”Picture3
